Find Your Inner Guide: Your Leader Within
Note: This is a blog post following the post on Feb 2nd, 2025, "Finding Your Purpose."
After finding your purpose in life, a unique calling that beckons us forward, the path to discovering and fulfilling that purpose isn't always clear. It's a journey that requires us to tap into our inner strength, our inner wisdom, our Leader Within. The Leader Within is that resourceful part of ourselves that guides us, empowers us, and helps us navigate the twists and turns on our path to purpose.
Self-Acceptance and Self-Authority
Finding your Leader Within begins with self-acceptance and self-authority. Self-acceptance involves embracing yourself fully, flaws and all, with compassion and without judgment. This acceptance cultivates inner peace and confidence, allowing us to view challenges as growth opportunities. Self-authority builds on this foundation, empowering us to own our decisions and actions with conviction, guided by our values.
Think of self-acceptance as the wisdom from the heart, the gentle voice of compassion that guides us towards self-understanding and forgiveness. Self-authority, on the other hand, is the wisdom from the gut, that deep, intuitive knowing that empowers us to make bold decisions and take decisive action. By integrating these two powerful forces, we create the fertile ground from which our Leader Within can emerge, ready to guide us towards our fullest potential.
Leader Within Reflection Exercises
Connecting with your Leader Within is an active process of introspection and exploration, a willingness to tap into your most resourceful self. Here are exercises to guide you:
Reflection:
Recall a time you made a powerful decision. What made it feel powerful? What drove you?
Recall a time you fully accepted yourself. What did that feel like? Who were you at that moment?
Powerful Questions:
Ask yourself:
Who are you at your most resourceful?
Who are you at your best?
Who are you when you're on purpose?
Who are you when you embrace your humanity, imperfections included?
Who are you when you acknowledge your gifts, strengths, and qualities? What are some of these?
Visualization:
A final exercise I would like to recommend is to engage in guided visualizations to connect with your life purpose. For example:
Imagine you're on stage before a large group.
A voice tells you that you have 30 seconds to make any impact you choose.
Reflect:
What impact did you have? What happened to the people?
How were you and others transformed?
Who were you being to have that impact?
